A Rondeau: Draco
Hatchlings chortle beams of moonlight
freeing pages from their ink blight.
Loose to wander, where would you go?
Under oaks a silver winged doe
plants a roan flecked hatchling this night.
Midst the dream of sapphire starlight
shining wyrms eat away fear mites.
Sweeter than a robin's shee-uo,
Greet the hazel eggs with porch light.
Chestnut blue eyes whisper to smite
child hearts with dragon's fireglow.
Only elders' wise souls have known
that a dragon song calms our fright.
